The Lagotto Romagnolo is the only recognised breed in the world specialised in truffle hunting.
It is a small to medium-sized dog with a rustic, strong and well-proportioned general appearance. Affectionate and very attached to its owner, it is also an excellent companion dog, very trainable and an excellent companion for children.
The breed has a low propensity for barking and is not aggressive towards other dogs or species.
The expression is alert, intelligent and lively.
The coat is woolly with a tightly closed curl, evenly distributed over the whole body and continuously growing; with the particularity of being hypoallergenic.

The Lagotto with a characteristic thick, curly coat of woolly texture. Its special feature is that it is hypoallergenic and does not shed hair.
It has a variety of colours ranging from white to brown in all shades: white, white with orange or brown spots, orange with or without white, fiery brown, fiery roan.
The colour black must never be present in a Lagotto.
