The Breed
Lagotto Romagnolo
The Lagotto Romagnolo is the only recognised breed in the world specialised in truffle hunting.
It is a small to medium-sized dog with a rustic, strong and well-proportioned general appearance. Affectionate and very attached to its owner, it is also an excellent companion dog, very trainable and an excellent companion for children.
The breed has a low propensity for barking and is not aggressive towards other dogs or species.
The expression is alert, intelligent and lively.
The coat is woolly with a tightly closed curl, evenly distributed over the whole body and continuously growing; with the particularity of being hypoallergenic.

Its Personality
Loves being close to people, wants to be part of family life
It does not shed hair, the moult is absent. However, the fur retains dirt (earth, dust, spikes, snow) caught during outings.
Sociable but prefers to study the situation
It adapts to living in any living environment, the most important thing being that time is guaranteed for the release of energy and contact with the family.
Thoughtful and gentle with children. Can become protective. Attention must always be paid to how the child behaves towards the dog.
The hair must be brushed weekly with suitable brushes to avoid felting of the curl. Every 15 days a bath is recommended and every 6-8 weeks the length of the curl is revised with clippers. Ear cleaning important!!!
He loves play, both in his relationship with humans and with dogs.
Easy, learns very quickly.
Playful, cheerful, friendly. Dominance towards other dogs is absent, even in the relationship between male Lagotto or another male dog. It is a breed that avoids fights!

Being a breed selected for research work, it has energy to be discharged daily with walks, games that develop the ‘olfactory research attitude.

Adora la vicinanza con le persone, vuole esser partecipe della vita famigliare
Non perde pelo,la muta è assente. Però il pelo trattiene la sporcizia (terra, polvere, spighette, neve) catturata durante le uscite.
Socievole ma preferisce studiare la situazione.
Si adatta a vivere in qualsiasi contesto abitativo, fondamentale è che sia garantito il tempo per lo scarico delle energie e il contatto con la famiglia.
Settimalmente bisogna spazzolare il pelo, con idonee spazzole, per evitare l’infeltrimento del riccio. Ogni 15 giorni è consigliato un bagno e ogni 6-8 settimane la revisione della lunghezza del riccio, con forbici-tosatrice. Pulizia orecchie importante!!!
Adora il gioco, sia nel rapporto con l’uomo e sia con i cani.
